Like it is going out of fashion

Tis I, Munchkin. Today Mummy and Daddy picked me up early from Mary Poppin's house. Trust them to spoil the party. I was having a very nice time with my toys, thank you and I had the undivided attention of Little Miss Poppins (daughter of Mary). Still, I went with them, thoughbeit a little reluctantly as I was due a nice sleep after my lunch of chicken casserole and mash (which was rather yummy)

We went off in the car and it started raining. Daddy pulled up outside the place of the Nice Nursey with the nasty needles. I was not impressed. And to top it all off, there must have been a big leak in the sky (either that or the big man above that mummy talks to at night was crying as something had made him sad). There was lots of water coming down, on my face and in my eyes. Still, I didn't mind as it felt like having a nice bath before bedtime. All was well. I met a nice young lady called Terri, aged 14 months, red hair and an older lady called Isabella. aged 18 months, likes car keys. Then, somebody called my name.

Mummy carried me into a strange room while Daddy brought up the rear with all my stuff (I don't travel light!) Mummy then proceeded to take all my clothes off. Honestly, does the woman think I have no shame? Still I thought I wouldn't show them up in public as I didn't want to get a Stern Talking To when I was out of the public's earshot. I got put into a COLD bucket. It was COLD. I didn't like it so I TOLD THEM SO in my loudest voice (I can be stern too, you know!) The nice lady then looked into my mouth and told mummy said something that sounded similar to "teething like it is going out of fashion" How dare she? I am a very fashionable Munchkin, thank you very much. My clothes always match my socks and I always have trendy footwear on. I mean, these grown ups should take a look at themselves in the mirror sometimes...Mummy particularly. I could tell you a thing or two about what she looks like in the morning....it is not a pretty sight.

The animals marched in two by two

Hurrah....hurrah. Munchkin has developed a Pavlovian reflex. Any mention of anything that sounds vaguely like hurray or hurrah and he launches into a clapping frenzy. He is also prone to clapping fits when he is done eating and wants the next course.

Munchkin's room had a little revamp at the weekend. T installed the new black out blind to keep in nice and dim in da Munchkin space (to encourage sleep after the sun comes up and before the sun goes down). Note to anyone out there though....do not put a new blind up just before bed time; particularly if it has lots of animals in it that might be very exciting to a small person.

Munchkin spent most of Sunday bedtime cooing and pointing at the animals on the blind. To complete the experience, T has managed to get his hands on the entire 10 verses of "The animals marched in two by two" and treated us to a rendition at bathtime today. Good I suppose, as we don't have to put up with either "Wode" or "Green Grow the Rushes Oh!". I am pleased to report that he is keeping to verse at the moment and hasn't found the need to improvise. Another popular piece on the repertoir is "There was an old woman, who swallowed a fly". Worryingly, Munchkin finds the "Perhaps, she'll die!" bit most amusing. Hmm.

Surprise!

Munchkin sprung us yesterday. He was not feeling very well. He had been playing host to the friendly slugs all day. He looked like they were having a very nice time indeed on his little face leaving trails and splodges that Jackson Pollock would have been proud to call one of his own creations. Still, he was Munchkin.

We had a bit of a busy day. It is festival season here and Nailsworth festival kicked off to a fine start. We walked into town to watch the procession led by Samba Dances (T really enjoyed this bit and found the whole experience added to his knowledge and appreciation of culture). After the procession and lunch we headed back for a Munchkin nap.

All normal there...until we went to get Munchkin (he called) post nap. T got there first and shouted "Come quick!". I hadn't moved so fast in a while. When I got there, it was a sight for sore eyes. Munchkin greeted us, grinning, sitting up in his cot. We didn't put him there like that. He looked very pleased with himself indeed. He was clapping as if to say "Surprise!" EGAD! Me thinks he is growing up too quick for my liking.

The Nails Woof Fast Evil

Tis I, Munchkin. Sorry for not having the time nor the inclination to blog recently. I have been busy, growing teeth. I have seven now and I think there is another on the way which will make eight, which my Ah Ee says is very lucky indeed.

Today when I woke up, I noticed that the slugs had been overnight. They had been walking all over my face, particularly under and around my nose. I don't like it when they visit as mummy insists on wiping me with Tish - Shoo paper. Today was no different. If she wipes me anymore, my nose my not exsit as she would have succeeded in wiping it out.

Today, mummy and daddy decided that we wer to go to the Nails woof fast evil. I don't know what that is but it sounds like there might be food involved and even better, people to smle at (so that I can show off my new pegs, as GAF calls them) Off we went after my lunch. I thought it must be a special occasion so I even agreed to keep my new sun hat on all the way into town (between you and me there was too much to look at so I couldn't really be bothered to argue)

It was nice in town. There were lots of people all dressed up, strange people with painted faces dancing around and most importantly, many ladies of a certain age who all stopped to pay homage to the Munchkin. Then we stopped outside Aunty Clare's shop to watch the parade. Daddy was most intruiged by this. Maybe it had something to do with what mummy calls the scantily clad laydees wiggling their bottoms in the street. I really don't know what all the fuss is about. It was very loud but daddy was smiling!

The man of the house

Tis I, Munchkin. For the past two days, I have been the man of the house. Daddy has been off to South Folk (I guess that is like South Fork in Dallas but without the oil wells) playing in sludge (that is like dirty mud and you need to wear more than wellies to jump in that). He left me in charge of the girlies i.e. Mummy, Mishie and Chofuz.

All in all I think the girls behaved quite well. They didn't go shopping and they didn't spend lots of time in front of the mirror and they didn't have the "I haven't a thing to wear" Syndome. Mummy did have a "Does my bum look big in this?" moment yesterday but all in all they behaved as they should have and put me, Munchkin at the centre of it all. Rightfully so.

Daddy got home today. I was pleased as with all that responsibility comes pressure. Daddy gave me lots of cuddles when he got in and said that he had missed me more that he had missed me more than he though he would. I am gobsmacked. Fancy underestimating the amount that one could miss me, Munchkin. Daddy did admit to seeing a lot of Mr Al Kohol (that lives in the hole in the garage floor). I do question though, why Daddy takes HIM along on his trips when he doesn't take me? I must have words.

All is calm, all is white

This morning when we got ourselves out of bed (at about 0800, as Munchkin graced us a lie in) and looked out the window, we were treated to a carpet of snow. Everything looked crisp and clean, the birds were singing and the sun was shining through. It was going to be a good day.

We got Munchkin out of bed and straight outside (Mama do not fear, he WAS warm enough) to play in the snow. He loved patting the fluffy snow down which, left little hand prints which made his mummy feel a little bit emotional. He sort of liked crushing the snow between his fingers, he did that is,till it made his hands cold.

Munchkin had a long nap, then woke up and had his lunch ready to go to a birthday party in the church hall. He was a good boy while he was there and played nicely with all the other children. He espcially like Ollie, who told him all about diggers, trucks and combine harvesters (we are in Gloucestershire after all)

He was a tired Munchkin at the end of the day and as he fell asleep tonight, the snow came down once more. Good job we planned on a curry tonight, just to make sure we stay warm.

Dancin' on the landin'

Munchkin is slightly confused at why he is being put to bed whilst it is still light. But, being Munchkin he settles down after he has had a 'ickle chat to Kaden cat, bunny and Harry bear. Last night was no different. T was out for the evening so after Munchkin had gone to sleep I snuggled in for the night.

T came wobbling into the house at about eleven p.m. and declared that he was indeed, by his own judgement "a bit wobbly". He then fell (literally) back onto the sofa and remained there, non conversant (even more than usual). Suddenly, he decided it was bedtime so off he went, STOMPING all the way up stairs. It was no wonder Munchkin didn't wake!

T then fell asleep (after being forced to clean his teeth) only to wake at about one a.m. to do a little jig outside Munchkin's room, bathed in all the lights that he had switched on in the process. When asked what was going on, he claimed to be going to the little boy's room(the loo, not boudoir le Munchkin). I pointed out that there is a perfectly functional loo in our bedroom which he subsequently entered, switched the light on for, walked round the loo, then went back to sleep again!

He was paying for it this morning though. No sympathy for self inflicted injuries, of course!
